SCO Summit 2022 in Uzbekistan: The Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit is being held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. PM Modi attended the conference along with leaders of other SCO member countries including Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping. Many other issues are being discussed in this conference, including regional security challenges, promoting and supporting trade and energy supply. PM Modi said, “I am happy that the Indian economy is one of the fastest growing economies in the world. There have been many global disruptions due to Kovid. We want to turn India into a manufacturing hub.”

The eyes of the whole world are on the bilateral meeting of PM Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin at the SCO summit in Samarkand. During the Russia-Ukraine war, America had tried to put pressure on India many times, but India did not openly oppose the attack in Ukraine and this is the reason that the relations between the two countries were further strengthened.

Watch the meeting of PM Modi and Putin

In the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit (SCO Summit), PM Modi shook hands with all such leaders, but everyone’s eyes are specially fixed on the Modi-Putin meeting. Especially America has a special eye on this meeting. At a time when Western countries were imposing various sanctions against Russia, India indirectly helped Russia by being absent during the voting on several resolutions against Russia in the United Nations Security Council.

How did India help Russia?

After the attack in Ukraine, the US tried several times to pressure India to take a tough stand against Russia, but India tried to remain neutral keeping its own interests in mind. America wanted India to support Russia in isolating it from the world, but India also has its own energy and military needs. Keeping those needs in mind, India is following its foreign policy somewhat differently. Despite the sanctions, India bought a huge amount of crude oil from Russia.

How important is the SCO conference?

Apart from India, the SCO includes Kazakhstan, China, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Pakistan and Uzbekistan. Iran and Belarus are also ready to join this organization. In addition to the war between Ukraine and Russia, China’s aggressive approach to the Taiwan Strait has led to geopolitical turmoil. In such a situation, the SCO conference among the influential group of 8 countries is very special. On 15 September Belarus and Uzbekistan agreed to launch AgroExpress. Putin and Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed the Declaration of Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Russia-Uzbekistan. Uzbekistan and China agreed on a trade and investment deal totaling $15 billion.

What is the reason for the problems of western countries?

In the SCO Summit in Samarkand, Russia and China have already joined on the member stage. Iran is also involved in this meeting. Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Iran’s President Ibrahim Raisi are on the same platform and the same thing is knocking America. These three countries are considered enemies of America.

Apart from this, leaders of Pakistan and Turkey have also participated in this, which America looks at with suspicion. America has already imposed sanctions on Iran. The number of countries living against America on this platform is more. There is Russia here, there is also China, Iran is also there and along with Pakistan there is also Turkey. That is, the countries which America does not consider as its enemy or in its own interest, they are all on this platform. America will never like the presence of these enemies together on one stage.
